FROM STUDENT TO SKILLED ESTHETICIAN
Wendy
Wendy has been a part of our extended family since she was a young girl. After school, she would come to our porch, where we would help her with her studies, offering tutoring sessions that quickly turned into cherished evenings of learning, laughter, and friendship. Bright, determined, and full of ambition, Wendy always had big dreams for her future.
Now, she has turned that ambition into a thriving career as a skilled esthetician. Through hard work and dedication, she has built a name for herself in the beauty industry, specializing in skincare, facials, and wellness treatments. Seeing her grow into a confident, successful professional has been incredibly rewarding, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far she has come.
Her journey is a testament to what passion and perseverance can achieve, and we’re honoured to have played a small part in it.

What makes us different

Our partners—small, family-run operations—are at the heart of what we do, and we’re proud to support them in a way that is mutually beneficial, respectful, and rooted in genuine connection.
Our team consists of us, your bilingual guides, alongside our close friends and partners—Maria, Cristian, and their daughter Melisa—who bring their invaluable local expertise and warm hospitality to every experience. From a homestead stay in the mountains to exploring pristine waterfalls and hidden jungle trails, we take care of all the details so you don’t have to.

Detailed Itinerary…
Day 1
Upon arrival we will meet you at the Santa Marta airport and transport you directly to Casa Guachaca where you can enjoy yourself in the gardens and rooms while acclimatizing yourself to your sunny new temporary home. Pick our guides brains about your upcoming adventure and tuck in for a comfortable nights rest. As always all applicable meals are included.
Day 2
Sun, fun and monkeys. This one is such a favourite that it appears in almost all of our tour packages. Preserve your beach body with one of our lighter breakfast options, or load up for some swimming or surfing. As always the choices are yours. Afterwards one of our private drivers will deliver you and your bilingual volunteer guide to the launching point for our monkey viewing adventure. This twenty minute flat and leisurely stroll along the edge of a renowned nature reserve is a great spot to chance upon either Titi or howler monkeys, and often both. Continue to enjoy the tranquility for as long as you would like, or perhaps you are more interested in vibrant Colombian public beaches, with their music, fresh seafood and beautiful revellers? We can customize your day to include a picnic lunch at a completely secluded beach or a uniquely Colombian seafood experience at one of our favourite beachfront restaurants. Often including the pleasure of watching hummingbirds head off to sleep.
Day 3
After your delicious breakfast and at your convenience we will enjoy a drive up the stunning Carribean coast to one of our favorite viewpoints. Make sure you bring your phone or camera, the scenery here never disappoints. We will provide you with a picnic lunch as you enjoy the view or you can try a lovely nearby restaurant serving delicious Colombian style cuisine. On our return trip get ready for a Colombian experience that is so special and uniquely Costeno that you will remember it and delight your friends with descriptions for years to come. The Cabanas de Buritaca are loud and colorful, but also full of beautiful views and possible wildlife sightings. You will be glad to have your Canadian bilingual guides on hand as, though completely safe and very friendly, the local merchants know a freshly arrived gringo when they see one. Harmless but aggressive salesmanship is often the takeaway for newbies in many a Colombian tourist destination. Feel secure as your Canadian hosts politely decline what you aren’t interested in and secure a fair price in what you are. Or feel free to jump in and enjoy the boisterous experience!
Day 4
-Day 4- Another chef Mike created breakfast, followed by another adventure. We start early in order to appreciate all that our destination of Minca has to offer. The ecological capital of Colombia lives up to it’s name and is well worth the hour long trip up into the mountains. The drive is itself a gorgeous excursion. Choose your own adventure, as your guides will have explained the various options ahead of time, including international style dining, waterfalls, bird watching, visiting a working coffee farm, and so much more. This is burgeoning Colombian tourism at its finest.
Day 5
By now you will feel like you are a seasoned Colombian adventurer and may prefer to plan a day all your own. Allow us to offer suggestions such as a jungle stroll to a nearby private waterfall, a trip into the local town of Guachaca, or maybe it’s back to the beach? Its your trip and your choice but we are always available to join you and keep you feeling safe and comfortable in whatever way you choose to spend your day. You may well be content to just enjoy the beautiful garden and rooms available to you. We know that’s always a favourite after a few days of excitement.
Day 6
After your preferred start of the day, including as always all of the coffee and tea your heart desires, we will head to Santa Marta to experience a the highlights of the city. We will start at the Santa Marta Gold museum. A wonderful resource for not only seeing unique historical artifacts but also a concise and informative crash course on the fascinating history of the second oldest city in South America. We will then guide you through the historical city center. Or, if you prefer, you can guide us as we discretely follow at a distance and allow you to soak up the city at your own pace. We will then take you to one of our favorite restaurants, with many different options available ranging from traditional Colombian to North american style comfort food, European influences and even some wonderful Indian cuisine. After lunch, once again, the choice is yours. Would you like to see a very western style shopping mall that can be a bit of a surprise after so many unapologeticly original Colombian experiences? Maybe one of the city beaches? Perhaps the a history buff would like to visit the home where South Americas most famous figure, Simon Bolivar, spent his final days?
Day 7
Enjoy your last full day at Guachaca house, dining on your choices from our menu. Featuring fusion cuisine, Colombian style dishes or western comfort food options our family style dinners and a la carte breakfast and lunch options are completely customizable to your needs.
